About Me

David Koonar is a photographer living in Windsor, Ontario. Koonar is a well-known name in Canadian photography, especially outdoor photography. He is one of the most sought-after names for visual art and photographic impact in Windsor today.

Early Design Focus

David Koonar was always drawn to design, even before he became a photographer. He wanted his camera output to correspond with the beauty and technical presentation of man-made and natural design as seen through the lens. Technology has changed, evolved, and progressed, but Koonar’s photography based on design representation has not. Today, digital modification, editing, augmentation, and much more is possible; yet, David sees photography beauty in simple photographs, especially in nature. These are things that no amount of coding can duplicate.

Idea Narratives

David Koonar’s work begins with stories. His camera and skill are professional tools, but the end work’s creativity begins with a decent background, setting, and plot. In many cases, the story is already present, a real-life movie always running, and Koonar is there to capture it. His work on Instagram and other social media outlets demonstrates much of this expertise. The fact that Koonar continues to be in demand for new photography projects is unsurprising.

Focus on Mechanical Skills

Koonar routinely shares his technical skills with novice photographers. For full effect and the greatest shot quality, the Windsor native continues to emphasize full manual control through expertise, studying, understanding the results of different settings, and knowing when to apply them. In Koonar’s opinion, a photographer cannot achieve true photography without this understanding. However, it is the consistently high degree of image quality that sets a skilled photographer apart from those who rely on defective computer auto-settings.

Perspectives

David Koonar expects technology to continue producing fantastic stuff that wasn’t available or even usable two years ago. But he also expects that as computers perform more and more of the work, the number of photographers who actually know how to use their equipment manually will decrease. Koonar doesn’t expect photography to vanish overnight. It varies with the times. On the other hand, individuals who have learned and refined their manual understanding of the camera, like David Koonar of Windsor, will obviously stand out. The difference will be visible in the photos, says Koonar.

Koonar himself continues to work diligently in Windsor, both in his studio and in nature. He continues to outdo himself for the task, delivering spectacular imagery through a lens and viewfinder.
